September 05, 2016Matthew Jukes English wine Compendium Mail Weekend magazine:Camel Valley, Bodmin, Cornwall www.camelvalley.comCellar Door, Shop or Vineyard Tours – yesI have gone on record, in Weekend, saying that Camel Valley is England’s finest wine estate. I stand by this statement even though I wrote it a decade ago because the Lindo family not only makes great sparkling wine but they also make scintillating still wines, too. This is a cellar door worth visiting, too!Feast your palates on each and every one of these epic creations and your palate will be in orbit. 2013 Cornwall Brut (£26.95, www.camelvalley.com & tel. 01208 77959, selected Waitrose, Berry Bros & Rudd tel. 0800 280 2440, Booths) is the workhorse sparkler which never lets you down. 2014 Annie’s Anniversary (£26.95, cellar door only) gives you a very good reason to visit this amazing winery! 2014 Blanc de Blancs (£26.95, www.camelvalley.com) shows their talents with Chardonnay and 2013 Pinot Noir Brut – Rosé (£28.95, www.camelvalley.com, selected Waitrose, Berry Bros, Booths) does the same for their skill with Pinot Noir in rosé form. This is a phenomenal wine which is not only one of the finest rosés in the UK but also the world! Finally, 2014 Bacchus (£13.95, www.camelvalley.com, selected Waitrose, Wine Society tel. 01438 741177) is the ultimate wine to drink with oysters and clams!Original article available at - (http://www.matthewjukes.com/2016/09/english-wine-compendium-part-one-unedited-with-full-stockist-details-and-additional-notes/)
